Assignments

Assignments provide the option to align learning outcomes at the assignment level, as well as through a rubric associated with learning outcomes.

  1. Step 1
    From the Assessments menu within a D2L course, select Assignments.
  2. Step 2
    Create a new assignment or edit an existing assignment.
  3. Step 3
    Select Outcomes.

  4. Step 4
    Select the checkbox(es) for each learning outcome that aligns with the assignment.

  5. Step 5
    Select Save.
  6. Step 6
    Selected outcomes will appear under assignment title.
  7. Step 7
    Select Save and Close.

Note:

Suggest Assignment Outcome Alignment may also be used to provide recommended learning outcomes to align with each assignment.

Discussions

Discussions provide the option to align learning outcomes at the discussion topic level, as well as through a rubric associated with learning outcomes.

  1. Step 1
    From the Assessments menu within a D2L course, select Discussions.
  2. Step 2
    Create a new topic or edit an existing topic.
  3. Step 3
    Select Outcomes.

    Select the checkbox(es) for each learning outcome that aligns with the discussion topic.

    Select Save.
  6. Step 6
    Selected outcomes will appear under the discussion topic title.
  7. Step 7
    Select Save and Close.

Note:

Suggest Discussion Outcome Alignment may also be used to provide recommended learning outcomes to align with each discussion topic.

Quizzes

Quizzes provide alignment at the quiz question-level, and can be aligned to all quiz questions or to selected questions only.

  1. Step 1
    From the Assessments menu within a D2L course, select Quizzes.
  2. Step 2
    Create a new quiz or edit an existing quiz.
  3. Step 3
    If creating a new quiz, add quiz questions.
  4. Step 4
    From the Questions list, select the checkbox(es) for the questions that align with a particular learning outcome, or if preferred, select one question at a time.
  5. Step 5
    From the More Actions dropdown menu, select Align to Outcomes.

  6. Step 6
    Select the checkbox(es) for each learning outcome that aligns with the selected quiz questions.
  7. Step 7
    Select Save.
  8. Step 8
    Repeat process for all quiz questions, as needed.
  9. Step 9
    Selected outcomes will appear under each quiz question.
  10. Step 10
    Select Save and Close.

Rubrics

Rubrics provide alignment at the criterion row-level, and can be aligned to all rubric criterion or to selected criteria only.

  1. Step 1
    From the Assessments menu within a D2L course, select Rubrics.
  2. Step 2
    Create a new rubric or edit an existing rubric.
  3. Step 3
    From within the criterion row, select Outcomes.

    Select the checkbox(es) for each learning outcome that aligns with the rubric criterion.
  5. Step 5
    Select Save.
  6. Step 6
    Repeat process for each criterion in the rubric, as needed.
  7. Step 7
    Selected outcomes will appear under each rubric criterion.
  8. Step 8
    Select Close.
