NEW! in D2L:
Coming Spring 2026:
Do you use video in your D2L course(s)? New Federal Title II accessibility regulations will go into effect April 2026. Key updates include:
- Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards , which were adopted for Title II regulations, will be required for web and mobile content.
- Audio Descriptions , which are similar to closed captions and alt text, will be required for all pre-recorded videos (either built into the narration or through an additional audio description track).
- Kaltura is the recommended platform for creating accessible videos.
More guidance and resources will be shared at Spring 2026 PA Days, as well as throughout the Spring semester. Visit the Audio Descriptions for Video page for more details.
