Audio Descriptions for Video

Audio Descriptions

What are Audio Descriptions? Audio Descriptions narrate key visual information (actions, speakers, settings, and on-screen text) that is shown onscreen, but not communicated verbally. Audio Descriptions must be accurate, consistent, appropriate for the audience, and limited to what is visually observable.

Why are Audio Descriptions required? Federal Title II regulations require Audio Descriptions for pre-recorded videos to ensure they are fully accessible to blind and low-vision individuals.

Options for Adding Audio Descriptions to Videos

Option 1: Built-In Audio Descriptions

Build Audio Descriptions into the narration during video development and creation by intentionally describing important visual information as you record the video. This is the recommended option.
