Effective January 2025: Kaltura Enforcing Video Storage Management Procedure for Videos in D2L
Posted on November 25, 2024
Over the past few semesters, the eLearning Department has been working with high-volume Kaltura users to prepare for the January 2025 enforcement of the Kaltura Video Storage Management Procedure which states that any video created with or stored in Kaltura that has not been accessed or played in four years will be deleted from user accounts. Please note that Kaltura videos that are actively accessed and played will not be deleted.
Kaltura video owners will receive an automated email from Kaltura to their LCC employee email account 14 days prior to a video being deleted. This alert email will identify the video(s) slated for deletion, giving video owners 14 days to take action to save the video, if desired.
Once notified via the alert email from Kaltura, video owners have three options:
- Option 1- Permanently Save a Kaltura Video: Video owners can select to permanently save and exempt a video from the Kaltura Storage
Management Procedure. Note: This must be completed for each video you wish to be saved.
- Option 2- Delete the Kaltura Video: If a video is no longer needed, you can proactively delete it from your Kaltura user account.
- Option 3- Wait for Kaltura to Delete the Video: If no action is taken, Kaltura will delete identified videos that have not been accessed or played in four years.
