TextAid New Text

New text is a word processing tool that allows users to listen to text read aloud, as well as utilize reading and writing assistance tools. Users can save text to a personal TextAid Library or download the files in several formats including Word, PDF and MP3.


Accessing TextAid New Text

  1. From the Online Tools menu, select TextAid.
  2. Select New Text. Select New text in ReadSpeaker TextAid.

Listening to Text Read Aloud

  1. Type or Copy and Paste text into New Text.
  2. Select Listen. Select Listen to hear text read aloud.

Reading Text using Reading Assistance Tools

  1. Type or Copy and Paste text into New Text.
  2. Expand Tools to select either Page Mask or Reading Ruler. Select Page mask or Reading Ruler from the Tools menu.
  3. To exit either the Page Mask or Reading Ruler, select the X on the right side of the tool. Select X to close either Screen mask or Reading ruler.

Using Writing Assistance to Hear Text Read Aloud while Typing

  1. Select New Text to open a blank document.
  2. Select Writing Assistance. Select Writing Assistance.
  3. Select any combination of Letters, Words and/or Sentences to hear them read aloud while typing. Note: There can be a delay when using this feature. Select any combination of Letters, Words and/or Sentences to have them read aloud while typing.

Saving to the TextAid Library and Downloading

    1. Select Save to save the text into the TextAid Library.
    2. Expand the Save menu to either download as a PDF or Word document.
    Select Save or the Save menu to download as a PDF or Word document.
