Coming Soon! Email Changes in D2L
Starting May 13, 2026, students will no longer need to check email in two accounts. Students’ LCC email will be integrated with D2L, so that you receive all your email in your LCC Gmail account.
How will email in D2L change for students?
Students will still be able to send emails from within D2L, using features such as Classlist and Compose Email, but D2L will become a “send only” environment. You will receive and reply to email only in your LCC Gmail account.
Why is LCC making this change?
This change is designed to reduce confusion and improve communication.
How can students prepare for this change?
On May 13, 2026, all the email in your D2L inbox, custom folders, and trash will be deleted and LCC will not be able to retrieve them for you. We strongly recommend you take two actions now to make this change easier!
- Set up email forwarding from your D2L account to your Gmail account. You will only receive email in Gmail
beginning May 13, 2026, but by forwarding now, rather than at the last minute, it
will give you an entire year of emails saved in your Gmail. For step-by-step instructions,
visit Email Forwarding in D2L or view the Email Forwarding in D2L video .
Note: Students who currently forward their email outside of D2L do not need to set up a new email forward. - Manually save important emails in your D2L inbox, custom folders, or trash before May 13, 2026 by forwarding emails to your LCC Gmail Account. All your Sent Mail will remain in D2L.
Do I have to use D2L at all to send emails?
No, you have the ability to compose and send messages from either Gmail or D2L. However, D2L offers the advantage of automatically including the course title and CRN in the subject line, making it easier to identify the course that email pertains to. Also, D2L always reflects your most current Classlist, so if you use D2L, you’ll have access to the most up-to-date roster for contacting your instructor and classmates.
