Using LCC Gmail and D2L Email for Students
As an LCC Student, you have two email accounts; your LCC Gmail account and your D2L Email account. All students have an LCC Gmail account. This is your official college email account where you will receive communications from departments across LCC. Your LCC Gmail account also allows you to access the G-Suite of applications such as Google Drive for storing files online, as well as productivity software such as Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. LCC Gmail can be accessed from the Student Email link found on either the LCC homepage or within MyLCC.
Once enrolled in a course, you will gain access to your D2L email account. D2L email allows students to send and receive email within a course to classmates and Instructors. You can also organize received email using folders and store email addresses using the Address Book. D2L Email can be accessed in D2L from either the Mini Bar at the top of the screen or from the Communications menu within a course. Be sure to check both your LCC Gmail account and your D2L Email account to ensure that you do not miss any important information from the college or your Instructors. Students should also be aware of their instructors preferred method for email contact, whether that is a D2L email address or an email address outside of D2L. Be sure to check your course syllabus and the Course Information area within D2L courses to find out your instructors preferred method for email contact.
